Today’s HBR tip<\/a> meshes with my last post<\/a>. Regarding your answers to interview questions, I said, “don\u2019t limit yourself to on-the-job experiences.” Why? Because it’s all about establishing evidence that you can do the job. You can definitely demonstrate skills outside of full-time employment (especially if you’re a student).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Management Tip of the Day” from Harvard Business Review deals with covering employment gaps in your resume. “[Challenge] your assumption that employers only value the skills you developed in paid positions.” Just as you can reframe your unpaid experience in interviews, you should do so on your resume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I highly recommend signing up for the daily management tip, even if you aren’t a manager. Their tips are often generally applicable, and even the title tends to be useful, rather than click-bate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
